The will to win is important, but the will to prepare is vital because being prepared is half of the victory. This is the foundation to what made the various teams get out of the classroom to go into the field and prepare for the sports' day. All of the teams eyed the prize of being crowned the champions this year.  Our beloved head teacher took ample time to take the kids through this time of preparation because as we all know, everyone has limits on the time they can devote to exercise. Therefore, the cross-training simply gave the athletes the best return on their investment with a combination of balanced fitness, minimum risk of injury, and maximum amounts of fun. The kids had great fun jogging, stretching, and preparing for the big event.

World Hope Academy boasts of a community that is passionate about progression and development. With this idea in mind, the school went out into the community to invite parents to partner with us. We wanted to see parents come out in large numbers to be a part of assisting the staff in trying to clear up the construction site. This would help hasten the building process and enable the students to get back to school in time. This shows how much value this community has placed on education as they are quick to assist us for the benefit of the children. It is our mutual goal to provide a conducive environment for learning. This experience also gave the school an even greater opportunity to bond with the parents and community at large, thus strengthening and improving on those relationships.

AWANA is an acronym which stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. This comes from 2 Timothy 2:15 which states, " Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." True to this, 2011 is a year destined for great works amongst the AWANA crew. The leaders hold devotions daily to feed their souls with the word of Christ as they strategize on how the day's program will run. Their goal is to ensure that the day is filled with fun and that children get to learn from the Christian activities that are designed to make good use of their extra time, energy, and abilities. AWANA is a Bible-based program for boys and girls that is taught by well trained leaders who attend various instructional seminars. AWANA is a core mission of the church as it reaches young boys and girls for Jesus Christ. Children are much more likely to trust Christ when young; therefore, it is vital to teach them the word of God at this tender age. The children in AWANA are referred to as 'clubbers', and this year saw 'clubbers' graduate to the different levels within AWANA which are the following:

-Cubbies [Kindergarten]
-Sparks [Grades 1,2 &3]
-Flame [Grades 4,5 &6]
-Torch [Grades 7 &8]

We are looking forward to a very promising year for our AWANA ministry as it hopes to attract more unsaved boys, girls, and families so that they can get to hear the gospel and have an opportunity to trust Christ as their Savior.

One of the fastest growing clubs at Hope Academy is the debate club that boasts having children from 4th grade through 8th grade.  This is a strong club aimed at assisting our children in improving their language fluency and comprehension. Debate club is held every Monday when the panel, made up of Hope Academy's English teachers, decide on a motion to begin a debate. The children are then given all day to search for points that either support or disagree with the motion. When they meet again that afternoon to have the debate, the children, referred to as 'members' during debate sessions, argue for or against the motion that was set forth that morning. The side with the most convincing and well explained points wins the debate for that day. Many students have been awarded for being the most active participants during the session, and this is a positive motivation mechanism because they are recognized amongst their peers for their vital contributions toward the debate. This debate club is a great positive indicator that World Hope Academy is taking great strides towards focusing on child development in terms of how they express themselves and comprehend material. This is a wonderful program that is aimed at improving the learners' ability towards overall academic growth.

his year's theme for the games department is one of ‘climbing mountains’.The games department kept that in mind when they were selecting names for the various teams this year. Our school has a tradition of giving names to the four teams we usually have every year. Being a Christian school we try to center all of our activities in such a way that our children are in a constant learning motion about the Bible. Therefore we keep a close link between the team names and the various areas in the Bible.  In 2009 we had teams being named after great men in the bible (we had Moses Team, Samson Team, David Team, Solomon Team). Samson were crowned as the champions in 2009, (indeed Samson was a great man in the Bible as he conquered the philistines after a long struggle and he was indeed a winner). In 2010 the theme was towns in the Bible (we had Galilee team, Judea Team, Canaan Team and Samaria team) Galilee Was crowned the champions, (Galilee was a place full of miracles as this was the town where Jesus performed his first miracle-Cana of Galilee- and also in lake Galilee/Tiberias is where Jesus Walked on water. All these are lessons learned by the various teams. 2011, the year for facing the mountains we have Carmel Team (named after Mt. Carmel), Olive Team (named after Mt. Olive), Sinai team (named after Mt Sinai). Zion Team (named after Mt Zion).

Lets wait and see what this department has in store for us this year.
