At World Hope, we realize how essential sports activities are as an important role for many children as they grow and develop. It’s for this reason that we heavily invest in the children’s talents and thus have a strong sports program at Hope Academy Nairobi. From soccer and basketball to hand ball and high jump net-ball, we have many talented children at the Hope Center.

Sports, as well as good coaching, offer the kids at Hope Center an opportunity to develop in other areas outside of just academics. On the field they learn how to trust one another and operate as a team. They win together and they lose together. Its through this competivness that they become a community amongst themselves. We’re noticing a curiously strong bond between the children as we compete in more sports activities around our region. We keep tabs on the different teams on what we call a “notice board.” Every team who has the most victories is awarded a prize.

This past year has been a very successful year for Hope’s teams. Our boys soccer team was declared champions of our region (called “zones” in Kenya). Two of our students at the academy were chosen to be in the All Star Team that represented our zone. This is very exciting news for World Hope as we are in the first construction phase of our high school. Once the high school is built we will then be able to compete on the high school level for many of our sports programs. This will enable us to enter the larger tournaments of our zone. Thank you for keeping the children of Hope Academy and Hope Center Nairobi in your prayers as we enter into a new year.
