Margaret Wangui

April's spotlight is on one of Hope’s young, talented, and charismatic young ladies who exudes confidence and stands out amongst her peers. Margaret is in 8th grade (our candidate class) and holds many titles here at World Hope Academy. She is full of knowledge about Christ at her young age, and is truly a girl who loves God wholeheartedly. Margaret is free spirited and driven by what she feels is a calling- to sing. She is honing her natural gifts and abilities by leading the school’s Christian Union in song, and also assists the union patron by being in charge of the Senior Christian Union Club by teaching them new songs and organizing the presentation for chapel service. Indeed, Margaret is a blessing to World Hope Academy and has cultivated a thriving atmosphere of praise amongst the students through song and dance.

In 2010, Margaret won the title “Head Girl” at Hope Academy. This is one of the most prestigious titles in the school, with specific criteria in different categories that have to be met in order to hold the place. Margaret has maintained these standards in leadership, and she is proving herself worthy by making a positive impact on the student body. Her teachers describe her as a polite, obedient, and responsible young lady with a compassionate heart to care for others.Ensuring that her classmates are attended to, or getting the brooms for sweeping classrooms, comes natural to Margret with her genuine disposition to serve.

Margaret is also the reigning Miss World Hope, a crown she has held for two years now, 2009-2010. The pageant is held during our annual talent show where various talents are showcased and we get to select our Mr. & Miss. Hope. Being Miss Hope spans further than just outward beauty, but also takes into account outstanding intellect and excellence in school work; both of which are true of Margaret. She is well spoken, poised, and well mannered. Margret’s teachers are thankful and proud of her and her loyal commitment to her responsibilities.

This year, her parents had considered transferring her to a public school when they noticed how early their daughter had to wake up to make the commute to school. But, Margret smiles as she points out that she managed to convince them to just let her continue at World Hope Academy because it is the school she has come to love throughout the years. “I wouldn't trade that for another school.” She says. It’s young and ambitious leaders like Margaret that World Hope Academy is nurturing for this generation to break the mold of a child in the slums.
